Went to Bog and Barley with my retired educator's club. We had a good time. Our server Amanda was very helpful and attentive. She was patient with all eleven of us. Shoutout to her for her great service and friendly demeanor. We had a wonderful time. We all ordered many different menu items. I noticed many of us ordered the fish and chips. Others had the shepherds pie, wedge salad with an added protein, reuben sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. I enjoyed my two piece fish and chips very much. The fish was an Atlantic Cod. It was moist and fried just right. The fries were hot, thick and crispy. The dish came with a little cup of peas that were very tasty. The tartar sauce was homemade and was excellent. I also ordered some Irish soda bread which was fantastic! It was very moist with a crunchy outside. The food was authentic Irish food according to one of my friends that had eaten there before. The restaurant was very clean and organized. It seemed to be upscale in decor and very calm at lunch. I will definitely return to try the Irish Creme cheesecake! It has coffee in it. We had a fabulous time.
I recently discovered a hidden gem with a beautiful atmosphere. Despite the dark, somewhat loud ambiance, the place is definitely worth a visit. The menu is extensive, and the fish and chips are absolutely amazing. The service is excellent, and the seating is comfortable, making it a great spot for families as well. I can't wait to return for their Manhattan and to explore more of their drink offerings and desserts. Highly recommended!
Inside was amazing. You walk into a wall that, as a bourbon and whiskey drinker, is what I would love to have in my home. Cool drinks mixed with old classics. The food was pretty mediocre nothing special but the service was great. We even did the beers with our faces printed on them which was pretty neat. If you want a drink and chill night a recommend your bourbon of choice watching the game at the bar.
Quick review, this place is both great and unique it is certainly an interesting new addition to the "Memphis Culinary Scene." I know that probably sounds like an unnecessarily pompous way to describe a "higher end pub," but it's hard to describe it in a more pedestrian manner. However, I'm still going to try. Everything, food and service wise is fantastic yet the prices keep as an occasional treat rather than a "local hang." Having said that, if it was cheaper or I was wealthy I would definitely move it from a "special occasion" spot to an "every Friday" kind of place. Great work, keep it up.
It's GORGEOUS in there. Nice work on the ambiance! The customer service was great and the bartenders were awesome. Loved how knowledgeable everyone was about the menu and even had recommendations for non-whiskey drinkers. But this place, you go to for whiskey for sure. Next time, I'm going to try a flight (or 2) Giving it 4 stars for now because the meal I had wasn't that great but I'll give it another shot and update my review later.
Still an undefeated 5/5 in my book. The Auld Bog has to be the best Memphis grown brew around and it can only be found here and at the sister establishment. Their crispy brussels sprouts are so very good and have a unique combination of flavor that I really enjoy. Love the mild sweetness from the coriander yogurt against the contrast of the roasted brussels sprouts. Feeling Bangers and mash? Also an excellent choice. The B&B burger is probably one of the best in town and their corned beef Reuben is top tier. The Reuben is paired with fresh pulled beef, not stale or dry. Don't even get me started on their outstanding fries. Put a dash of malt vinegar and you're in business. Thinking about dessert? Don't sleep on the Irish Cream Cheesecake. It's light and absolutely full of flavor. Hands down a good atmosphere and amazing service as always!
My family and I went for a late lunch. We were seated promptly and our server brought over some water while we looked at the menu. The ambiance was very pleasant. We shared the pimento cheese toasty and the fish dip- both were delicious. For my entree, I had the jumbo lump crab cake and it was really good. The other entrees looked good too. For dessert, we shared the Guinness chocolate cake and the crème brûlée and both were delicious!
A friend and I met here for lunch on a Saturday. Luckily, we were able to get in without a reservation. This was my second time here. Our service was completely on point (thanks, Kara B.). The pace was nicely relaxed, allowing for a leisurely conversation. My food was delicious, and made exactly to my specifications. I highly recommend the Bangers and Mash for an entree, and the Pimento Cheese Toastie as an appetizer. OMG, good! I was very pleased to imbibe in several beverage servings of Lagunitas IPNA and Guinness 0. Carrying nonalcoholic beers is a sign of a good restaurant establishment. I especially appreciate that they have a customer loyalty program in place. I'm very much looking forward to returning with family members to sample more of the menu!
Had a great experience here. The wait was short, the staff were friendly, and the music was great. Loved the tasty but strong drinks. We went on a Sunday brunch. I got the Irish breakfast platter and it was an experience for sure. Will have to check this place out on another day.
Bog & Barley is the top notch, all around, undisputed king /queen (depending on your preference), of all Irish Places in and around Memphis, TN. The beautiful interior design blends perfectly with the menus. The ridiculously deep whiskey lists, the signature flights, signature cocktails, and the food menus are full of delights. My favorite whiskey is Elmer T. Lee. If you see it on the list, get it. On top of that, they have like 20 beers on tap and a good selection of wines to choose. There is even non-alcoholic beer for people that don't drink, but still want beer. That's just fucking strange by the way. They do pour a proper Guinness draft and even have the thing that will print your picture on the head. Tehehe. Your head on the head... I have had majority of the food on the menu, or it has at least hit my table. I love the Scottish Egg and the Pim Toasties for apps. Mussels are killer. The duck fat fries are a must get no matter what. The Fish and Chips is exactly the way it should be. In fact, all of the "Irish Fare" is perfect. I do think there are too many potatoes in the Sheppards pie lately, but that's just me. The trout they had last year with the lemon sauce, holy shit. I could go on and on. This place is well done!!!
